Jay Gao is a poet from Edinburgh, Scotland, living in New York City. He is the author of two chapbooks, Wedding Beasts (Bitter Melon 苦瓜, 2019) and Katabasis (Smith|Doorstop, 2020), and his second full-length poetry collection is titled The Dead One, The Unconscious One, Thundering in Your Ear, Thriving Slumber (Nightboat Books, 2026). Gao was a reviewer for Harriet Books in 2021.
