Bark, Archive, Splinter [“Afterwood. Discompose”]
By Jay Gao
Bark, archive, splinter
Afterwood. Discompose
Invested in no ordinary scattering
Islands away a dirge negotiates its frontiers. Taking root
Downloaded light, the hue of your anticipated grief has, by now, become endemic
–––––––––––––––––––hew
Perhaps, there
Fugitive traces trend to level out
In his absence, the insentient world tints as it did before, solicits disaster
Listen, this may take a while
Listen, this may take a while
To be half a man
Sleep is not your country
To be half a man
Sleep is not your country
To close your eyes
Changes the landscape of a face
Still waiting for that message
To change the landscape of your face
Still waiting for that message
To close your woundwood eye
